The Moorish and Christian marches of the 14 filaes that make up the festival in El Verger once again conquered every corner of the town. August 15 is the big day of the Vergerins Moors and Christians, a day in which the efforts of the entire year are rewarded. The undisputed protagonists of 2024 were the captaincies, Pirates del Girona and Abencerrajes, who displayed their pageantry to delight the public from beginning to end of the tour.
This year there was a lot to celebrate. At the beginning of the festivities, the local authorities announced that the Generalitat declared the Moors and Christians of Verger as a Festival of Local Tourist Interest. And everything was up to par. With the Christian side opening the way and the Moorish side closing it, the captaincies were surrounded in the middle of the gala parade accompanied by majestic floats, dances and their impressive squads.
El Verger ends today its beloved patron saint festivities in honor of the Mare de Déu del Roser, giving way to the days of Bous al carrer.
