The Alicante Provincial Council, through the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees, has launched a package of tourist aid of close to one million euros to develop those promotional actions proposed by the municipalities affected by the fire declared this summer in La Vall d'Ebo.

This has been transferred this week by the technical director of the autonomous body of the provincial institution, José Mancebo, to the mayors of the area, with whom he has met to outline the measures that will be adopted in order to promote the recovery of tourism in this area. of the northern interior of the province in which more than 12.000 hectares burned.

Mancebo has informed them, following the guidelines announced by the president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, after the work meeting he held with the councilors on August 30, that the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees will put at the service of the consistories the resources human and administrative resources necessary to facilitate the drafting, processing and execution of grants and aid.

The projects, designed by the consistories themselves, must be presented within a month and may focus on initiatives of various kinds such as fairs, gastronomic days, sporting events, agro-tourism plans, environmental tourism or any other action that has as its objective the revitalization of these populations, the promotion or the attraction of visitors.

As the director of the entity has advanced, “it is an extraordinary and urgent measure that will be channeled through the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees, with 100% nominative subsidies for the revitalization and promotion of tourism, with an amount of up to 30.000 euros by municipality.

In addition, the Board provides for the support and complement of this proposal through specific plans in order to recover tourist activity in all these towns, a strategy that will be incorporated into the Board's Promotion Plan for 2023.

The aid and plans include actions for the last quarter of 2023 and will amount to nearly one million euros. This action will be raised to the Provincial Plenary, where actions in other municipalities of the province affected by the fires, such as Petrer or Beneixama, will be included. Likewise, the Board of Trustees is coordinating with Turisme Comunitat Valenciana said action with the purpose of complementing and not duplicating actions and that these are efficient for the beneficiaries of the aid.

The meeting, which took place this week at the Vall d'Ebo Town Hall, was attended by, in addition to the mayor of the town, Leonor Nazaria Jiménez, representatives of Planes, Balones, L'Atzúbia, Benimassot, Castell de Castells , Fageca, Famorca, Pego, Tollos, La Vall d'Alcalá, La Vall de Laguar, Vall de Gallinera, Orba and Tormos.

President Mazón already stated in the meeting that he held weeks ago with the mayors his commitment to respond immediately, urgently and effectively to the needs of the affected consistories in order to alleviate the damage caused by the fire.

Finally, the director of the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees has concluded that the autonomous body of the Provincial Council “works both to promote tourism in coastal and inland municipalities. For this reason, it is a priority for us to invest and be next to these mountain populations of our province in order to recover their tourist activity and events, as well as generate local economy and take advantage of this impulse to revitalize the area as much as possible” .
