Last May, the Ondara City Council confirmed the investigation that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office was carrying out into alleged irregularities in minor contracts in the Ondara cultural sphere. He is now the investigative court number 1 of Dénia which has opened the necessary proceedings against the Councilor for Culture, Raquel Mengual, for "alleged administrative prevarication", as published by the Alicante Plaza media this morning.
The PP filed a complaint with Anticorruption providing the 16 minor contracts approved from the Culture area of the Ondarense Consistory. The contracted association was Ayjub Music, represented by Javier Gil, with whom Mengual had a sentimental relationship according to the statements of the Popular Party of Ondara.
The popular group maintains that the City Council resorted to this type of contract so as not to have to carry it out through a public tender and, in addition, that the amount of the lowest contract was exceeded up to 19.060 euros, while the maximum legal amount is 15.000 euros with VAT.
In addition to these tests, the popular ones delivered documentation on other contracts to different companies "through a minor contract, without the mandatory three budgets and with partners who would share interests in third-party companies," reports Alicante Plaza. It is for these reasons that the Ondarense opposition insinuates that the councilor could have committed a crime of alleged administrative prevarication.
Anti-corruption finally filed a complaint against Mengual considering the indications of the alleged crime in "at least two of the reported cases." One of them for the contracts with Gil's association. The complaint was filed in Dénia in March and, for the moment, the councilor and her alleged partner have declared, as investigated, and José Ramiro, mayor of Ondara, as a witness.
In her statement, Raquel Mengual claimed to be a friend of Javier Gil and denied having a true romantic relationship. In this way, the councilor declared to go to Ayjub Music "because it offers a series of musical groups", that the proposal generally belonged to the Culture area and that the authorization of the award is made by the Governing Board.
