Some 50 bicycles arrived this weekend from Marina Alta to Torrent to facilitate the mobility of people affected by the floods in the province of Valencia. The Col·lectiu Soterranya has been the recipient of the donation facilitated by a group of people from all over Europe living in Marina Alta, whose shipment was coordinated by the Pedreguer Cycling Collective.
Over the weekend, a convoy loaded with bicycles left the region for the Xenillet neighbourhood of Torrent. Tomorrow, the total number of bicycles sent is expected to increase to 80 and they plan to reach the figure of 200 donations in various shipments. For its part, the Col·lectiu Soterranya has already delivered 184 bicycles to the affected people through its #BicisPerATotes initiative, with a list of 300 more to be delivered.
The Torrent cycling group also organised a bicycle repair shop near its facilities so that all the bicycles could be delivered in the best possible condition. They also helped repair the bikes of the volunteers who are helping with the cleaning tasks and distribution of material in the affected municipalities.
