This October, the Carmen Alemany Bay library in Pego celebrates its first anniversary of being opened to the public. A year in which this building, which housed, among others, the old Cervantes school, has become one of the epicentres of culture in the municipality. The City Council has decided to celebrate this anniversary with a series of activities scheduled throughout the month.
The first of these is already operational, it is the usual 'Point of Interest' of the library. A space for promoting books in which they try to pay tribute to the anniversaries each month (Day of the Girl and Science, Day of the Valencian Pilota, Valentine's Day, Women's Day, among others). On this occasion, this small space for promoting books will focus on the first birthday of the new cultural space.
In addition to this initiative, it has been scheduled for this Thursday October 3, at 20:00 p.m., the inauguration of the exhibition 'Marinando Estellés', an exhibition dedicated to the Valencian poet Vicent Andrés Estellés with images of the region that will be accompanied by poems by the author and set to music with the voices of personalities from the Marina Alta. The exhibition can be visited until October 16 during public opening hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 17:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
El Saturday October 5, at 19:30 p.m., a conference on Miguel Hernández is scheduled by the Pegolina academic Carmen Alemany Bay, after whom the library is named. Doctor in Hispanic Philology. Professor of Hispanic American literature at the University of Alicante, Alemán has dedicated part of her work to the Alicante poet, she has been an anthologist and editor of works by this universal author, especially, the edition of the Complete Works of Miguel Hernández.
For next week, specifically the October 8, 'A Valley towards 2.0' will be held, a small tribute to the figure of Maria Ibars in which the artist Jaume Ginestar unites music and the verses of the author who lived so many years in Dénia.
The last of the events scheduled for this first birthday of the Carmen Alemany Bay library will be held on Saturday October 19This is a musical performance by the Brass Quintet together with the singer Pascual Salort.
