The State Meteorological Agency has issued a warning to the population about the circulation of fraudulent SMS messages that impersonate the agency. It reports that "some users have informed us that they have received SMS messages accompanied by a link. This is false."
The supposed message, with spelling mistakes, says “A severe storm is forecast for your region. Prepare and stay safe,” followed by a download link. This false claim takes advantage of the fear of citizens caused by the terrible consequences of the DANA experienced in the Valencian Community, Castilla La-Mancha and Andalusia two weeks ago so that the recipient clicks on the aforementioned link.
⚠️IMPORTANT | Some users report that they have received SMS messages supposedly from Aemet, accompanied by a link. This is false.

The agency has stressed that it never sends SMS and, therefore, any message of this type should be considered a scam. "If you receive a similar message, DO NOT OPEN THE LINK," insists AEMET, warning citizens about the risks of clicking on suspicious links.
AEMET also reminds that its official application can only be downloaded through official app stores, urging users not to rely on external sources to download their software.
Fraud attempts using fraudulent text messages and emails are becoming more frequent, so extreme caution is needed in the face of these.
