Last Sunday, the Municipal Auditorium of Ondara was the setting for the presentation of the 2025 charity calendar of the Local Board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of Ondara. This initiative, which is now in its fourth edition, has once again had the collaboration of photographers Joaqui Lull and Manolo Requena, whose portraits have been accompanied by texts by the writer and journalist Jovi Lozano-Seser.
In addition, Lozano-Seser acted as master of ceremonies at an event that was opened by Mª Carmen Bisquert, president of the local AECC group, and which also included the participation of the mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro. During his speech, Ramiro highlighted the importance of this project both for raising awareness of the cancer cause and for the social activism that makes it possible.
Mª Carmen Bisquert stressed that, as in previous editions, the protagonists of the calendar are cancer patients who have posed for the veteran photographers in their studio in Pego. This year, the project has had the participation of people from all over the region, as well as residents of Ondara, which reflects the roots and impact of this initiative that combines a high personal and professional commitment. Joaqui Lull and Manolo Requena, from Manolo Foto-vídeo, presented the twelve portraits that make up the calendar, which is summarized this year under the motto "Chronology of hope."
The event took place in an elegant and simple setting, with live music by Capvespre Quartet, a young musical group made up of musicians from Ondara, Benissa and Dénia, which added an emotional touch to the presentation. One of the highlights of the evening was the reading of the testimony of Mapi Doménech, a native of Pego, who, in addition to being one of the models in the calendar, shared her experience as a symbol of overcoming and hope in the fight against cancer.
