According to Civil Guard sources, on October 1, a 24-year-old man was driving in the opposite direction on the AP-7 in the section between Pedreguer and Altea for 29 km in a row. A fact that makes him face a crime of reckless driving after being investigated for it.
The Civil Guard learned through the calls of several witnesses who reported that a car was traveling in the opposite direction on the AP-7 motorway. With the help of each piece of information provided by the different witnesses, the Civil Guard managed to reconstruct all the data necessary to know exactly the section traveled by the vehicle and locate the person responsible.
The agents found out that the alleged perpetrator traveled in the opposite direction on the AP-7 for 29 kilometers, from 609 to 638, between the towns of Pedreguer and Altea.
The investigations, which have been carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Traffic Subsector of the Alicante Civil Guard, culminated on October 25, with the investigation of a 24-year-old man, resident in La Nucía, who is charged with a crime of reckless driving. It has been an investigation in which the agents have had to collect numerous pieces of evidence, in addition to the statements of the witnesses, since it was the circumstance that the witnesses were unable to capture the full license plate of the car in which the driver was traveling. .
The proceedings have been made available to the Court of Investigation of Guard of Dénia. The alleged perpetrator faces a crime punishable by prison sentences of six months to two years and the withdrawal of his driving license from one to six years.
The Civil Guard wishes to appeal to the importance of citizen collaboration in this type of situation. Traffic in the opposite direction to that stipulated is a highly dangerous behavior, which puts road safety at serious risk. That is why it is important to collect as much data as possible about the make, model, color and license plate of the vehicle, and notify the Civil Guard as soon as possible, as long as this does not imply causing a new risk.
