End of the mask indoors: all the details on where it will be mandatory and when not to wear it

Now yes. One of the most anticipated announcements by a good part of society for months. Although this information was already known, it was necessary to wait for the meeting of the Council of Ministers to know the specifications of the end of the mask in closed public spaces, since the measure does not become effective until after its publication in the BOE today, 20 april. And that It is already a reality since 07:35 h in the morning.

After two years of use and with the progressive relaxation of restrictions, the time has come to do without the mask even more, although with exceptions. So, where will it still be necessary to take it?

Mandatory mask

• Pharmacies.
• Social health centers (residences). The obligation is reduced to workers and visitors when they are in shared areas.
• Public transportation. In this case, the Decree specifies: "Air, rail or cable transport, in public passenger transport and in the closed spaces of ships and boats, when the safety distance cannot be maintained. However, it has been considered that this obligation to use the mask should not be maintained for passenger platforms and stations".
• Health centers (health centers, hospitals...). "On the part of workers, visitors and patients with the exception of people admitted when they remain in their room."

Where not to wear a mask

• Outdoor spaces.
• Teaching centers. After the meeting of ministers, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, specified that centers may not impose the obligation to wear a mask.
• Sport centers.
• Restaurants and shops.
• Shows
• Work environment. The Decree establishes: "Those responsible for occupational risk prevention, in accordance with the corresponding risk assessment of the job, will be able to determine the appropriate preventive measures that must be implemented in the workplace or in certain spaces of the work centers, including the possible use of masks, if this is derived from the aforementioned evaluation."

Despite the reduction of the mask indoors, Darias insisted that it is a protection measure for the most vulnerable. For this reason, the Royal Decree specifies the withdrawal of the complement: "It should be assessed at the individual level according to belonging to groups of greater vulnerability, vaccination and activity and social behavior that may increase the risk of transmission.

Finally, it is recommended to continue using it in massive events and, in private, according to the degree of vulnerability against the COVID of the participants in the meetings.
