The Sant Miquel festivities are celebrated on the last weekend of September, coinciding with the end of summer, in honor of Sant Miquel Day, September 29.
Featured events
The events of the Sant Miquel festival vary depending on the year, but the Cáritas dinner in the Plaza de la Iglesia is never missing. In addition, there is always the celebration of a high mass in the church and a subsequent procession.
The participation of the fifth and fifth children, who wear their traditional costumes, and the Sant Miquel bar in the commission bar are also repeated.
All of this accompanied by live music concerts, fireworks, raspall competitions, or band bouts, depending on the year.
History
The Sant Miquel festivities are celebrated in honor of the archangel. He is one of the seven archangels of the Catholic Church and was the one who defended the people of God under the title of "Prince of the Celestial Militia." In the Catholic religion he is considered "the protector of God's people" against evil.
In paintings he usually appears fighting Lucifer with a sword in his hand. The church of Gata, located in the center of the town, is named after this angel.
