The Drive In drive-in, known for being the oldest in Spain, has said goodbye to its founder, Carles Miralles Pastor, from Pego. The film enthusiast "has begun a journey towards the world of dreams, a world where everything is possible, because in the world of cinema, all dreams are possible," they reported with this emotional message from the drive-in account.
Carles Miralles passed away yesterday, July 4, leaving a legacy marked by his love of cinema and his dedication to innovative and brave projects. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning in the parish of the Sagrada Familia, in the Convent of Pego.
Born in Pego, Miralles lived a life dedicated to his cinematographic passion. In 1979, he opened the Drive In drive-in in Dénia, near Les Deveses beach, which remains the oldest drive-in cinema in the country.
Career path
Miralles studied cinematography between 1970 and 1973 at the Conservatoire Cinema Français in Paris. Until 1979, he was a production and directing assistant at the French production company Sofracima. He would later open the drive-in theater and produce cinematographic and audiovisual works of various kinds.
He also managed municipal movie theaters and film clubs, including the Olimpia cinema in Oliva, the Victoria cinema in Pego and the Alhambra cinema in Calp. His extensive knowledge of the seventh art led him to collaborate on film programs on radio and television.
