07 December 2022 - 17: 56

The Erasmus+ MAGICS project (Medieval Activities Grow International Cooperation in Sport) makes a stop in Pedreguer from December 8 to 11. And it is that, Pedreguer will host the Second Transnational Meeting of this project, financed
by the European Union within the framework of the Erasmus+ Sport Program.

It is a program that aims to grow international cooperation with medieval and traditional activities to create work networks. The project, coordinated by the Hungarian Association Várkapitány Lovagi Vuelve Egyesület, involves traditional sports associations and municipalities from 5 countries
European countries (Hungary, Italy, Spain, Lithuania and Cyprus), in activities aimed at promoting sports normally considered as 'historical reenactment' or popular element, such as traditional dances, archery on horseback, flag games and the Pilota game.

The project focuses on the importance of these sports for local communities, as promoters of intergenerational exchange and tools for the transmission of traditional knowledge, and for Europe, as an expression of cultural diversity as a fundamental value of the Union.

Throughout these days, various meetings and sharing of the different contributions of each partner will be held. The central moment of the act will be the Round Table 'Traditional Sports vs history', with the communication 'From history to modernity', by Vicent Molines, President of the Valencian pilota federation, which will take place on Friday 9 December, at 17:00 p.m. at the Municipal House of Culture.

In addition, the members of the program will go to discover the Trinquet and its school. Also on Friday during the celebration of the I ROLSER Trophy for women's raspall, there will be a demonstration by the Italian Sbandieratori of the seven Comarcas de Orte of their spectacular show. Saturday afternoon, weather permitting, after the children's dance festival, there will be another exhibition in the Plaza Mayor.

The commission will also visit the Albarda and l'Hort d'Alè estates; They will also tour the streets of Pedreguer and visit the market.

The MAGICS project is funded by the Erasmus+ Program for the sports sector, intended to allow small amateur sports realities to acquire knowledge, train their own staff, and exchange experiences with other clubs and organizations in the European Union.
