Benissa City Council has embarked on a new phase of its tourism strategy with the launch of a comprehensive study on the municipality's tourism landscape, as part of the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (STSP), funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funds.

The initiative, which involved an investment of €131.294, aims to generate useful and applied knowledge that enables strategic decisions based on objective data. To achieve this, advanced Big Data and Business Intelligence techniques were used, including mobile device geolocation, social listening, and machine learning algorithms, all using anonymized and aggregated data from social networks, booking portals, and experience marketing platforms.

The results of the study are compiled on an interactive digital platform that allows visitors to view, download, and share tourism indicators. This tool will facilitate the monitoring of different visitor segments, as well as the analysis of the economic impact of tourism and the identification of collective trends.

Virginia Pérez, Councilor for Tourism, emphasized the importance of this project, stating that "with this data, we can better understand our visitors and improve their experience, tailoring our tourism offerings to what each type of visitor is truly looking for. It's a key tool for continuing to grow as a destination."

From the European Projects department, Adrián Cabrera hailed the initiative as an example of transformation driven by European funds: "Once again, thanks to the PSTD, we have been able to launch a cutting-edge project that puts Benissa on the map of smart destinations. It's a clear example of how European funds can transform local realities."

Arturo Poquet, Mayor of Benissa, also highlighted the project's importance for the municipality's future: "This initiative reinforces our commitment to a tourism model based on sustainability, innovation, and informed decision-making. Benissa aims to lead the future of tourism through intelligence and knowledge."
