From Friday 8th November at 18pm until 30th November, the Casa de Cultura in Dénia will host an exhibition dedicated to the “II Encuentraes del Nostre Cinema”. This event has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Ajuntament de Dénia and the financial support of the Impulsa Cultura project of the Salom Sabar Foundation, which was formalised during the presentation held on 18th August in the Auditorium of the Social Centre.
On August 25th, the “II Encuentraes del Nostre Cinema” brought together an audience passionate about cinema at the Auditori del Centre Social de Dénia. On that Sunday morning, four short films made in the La Marina region were screened. In addition, the event included a round table discussion on key issues for the local film industry.
The day began with an emotional remembrance of Carles Miralles Pastor, who passed away at the beginning of July this year. Miralles Pastor was a key contributor to last year's I Encuentra, contributing his experience and human warmth. In this edition, the "EL NOSTRE CINEMA" section continued its mission of giving visibility to local filmmakers in areas such as direction, acting, production and scriptwriting. As a novelty, the RIURAU Film Festival included these shorts in its official competition programme, awarding a special prize to the best film. The award went to JERUSALEM by Marina Velázquez, a short film shot in Benidorm.
After the screening of the short films, a round table was held moderated by José María Fraguas de Pablo, a renowned television editor, filmmaker, scriptwriter and writer. Among the participants were director Raquel Martí Signes, responsible for the short film Fish soup, and Lorena Pérez Sánchez, a member of the production team of the film. Borja López Ferrer, a director specializing in advertising and a regular participant in RIURAUExpress, also participated with his short film Not because I got up early first…, and JASP Sanpere, film, theater and television actor, who stood out in the short film Eyebrows, screened in the previous edition.
Another of the attendees was Luis Eduardo Pérez Cuevas, who together with Pilar Paredes co-wrote and directed Trolley, a thriller filmed in Valencia and Dénia that has accumulated 28 selections and 11 awards at festivals. The exhibition also includes the work of Christian Femenia with his film MACUMBO, filmed in Calp and the Rueda region.
