The boat trips through the Marjal Pego-Oliva scheduled for last summer have been a success. The Salinar River welcomed some 1.200 people who enjoyed the activity designed to enjoy the nature of the wetland, in turn promoting visits to the park.

Most of the visitors, around 65%, came from different parts of the Valencian Community, many of them from the neighboring towns of the neighboring counties. Regarding tourists from other autonomous communities, the percentage of visits was 20%. The origin in this section was quite diverse, visitors from Madrid, Salamanca, Zaragoza, Valladolid, Tarragona or the Basque Country were registered. The remaining 15% were international visits. Visitors who came from France, England, Germany or Belgium.

The experience in the Marjal

All of them have enjoyed an experience of about 30 minutes divided into two parts. First, a short talk by the technicians who have organized the excursions in which the main characteristics of the Marjal Natural Park were explained, introducing visitors to the different species of fauna and flora that inhabit it. The osprey reintroduction project was also explained during these visits.

Once the talk was over, the visitors walked through the waters of the Salinar to take a tour with the boat. "During this part of the visit, some characteristics of the area have also been explained, describing all the biodiversity that can be seen there," clarifies the Councilor for Tourism, Ricardo Sendra.

The mayor describes the proposal as "successful", "we believe it is necessary for people to get to know this natural space in which fauna and flora coexist, so that they learn about the importance of conserving and respecting nature". Sendra also points out that the visits are “one more way of attracting tourism so that they also get to know our municipality, our gastronomy, our trade. Next year we will offer these visits again”.
