Ubicación
The Gorgos River is located northeast of the Marina Alta, beginning its journey at 1.300 meters of altitude in the Alfaro and Serrella mountains in Facheca and flowing into Xàbia, between Cape San Antonio and Cape San Martín.
Along the way, the river moves through different municipalities of the region: all the towns in the Valley of Pop, Xaló and Gata de Gorgos.
Long Jump
The Gorgos River, which flows from west to east, has a length of 53 kilometers.
Other characteristics
The flow of the Gorgos River varies depending on the season of the year. While in autumn or spring the rains cause a considerable increase in the amount of water, eventually overflowing, in summer it remains dry.
In some areas there are puddles that remain throughout the year and are used for irrigation. Also, thanks to the great permeability of its bed, various sources are nourished by underground filtration.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the Gorgos River is characterized by the presence of cattails, oleanders and reed beds as vegetation.
