The PSOE asks to change the bases of Provincial subsidies to help the smallest municipalities in the region

The Socialist Group of the Provincial Council has discussed one of the crucial issues for the smaller municipalities of the Marina Alta in a visit to Calp, Orba and Ondara. From the meeting, the socialists have observed the need to change the bases of the different subsidy plans of the Provincial Council.

This request is due to the fact that the municipalities have made them aware of the deficiencies in the bases and the difficulties they encounter. «It is necessary that the commission be convened to review the cuts and pastes to which the PP deputies have become accustomed. We will raise it again in the next plenary sessions of the Provincial Council," they stated.

The visit has also led them to meet with the MASSMA (Community of Social Services of the Marina Alta) and with the MACMA (Cultural Association of the Marina Alta). The first is in charge of the social services of 22 municipalities in the region, while the second does so in the municipalities with a smaller population that do not have the capacity to hire personnel or carry out some activities related to sports, culture or heritage.

The socialist deputy and mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, has declared that "we socialists are going to defend the commonwealths. We invite Toni Pérez to learn first-hand about the work they do. Ignorance of it leads the municipalities with smaller populations to ostracism. The Provincial Councils should be more sensitive to the work of the associations, useful and necessary work.
