The PP of Pego and Oliva will pressure the Ministry to end the crossing of the Hostal de Sant Jaume

27 July 2022 - 14: 38

The groups of the Popular Party of Pego, Dénia and Oliva met today with the deputy of the same party in matters of Tourism, Agustín Almodóvar, in order to adapt joint pressures on various matters that concern both the Marina Alta and Safor regions. The main demand of the meeting has been the demand for the necessary works at the intersection of the Hostal de Sant Jaume, between the CV-678 and the N-332 that connect Pego with Oliva, to avoid the numerous accidents that have occurred along throughout history.

"It is a necessity for our well-being and our future, but even more so for our lives. It must be the Central Government that allocates those 6,42 million euros that they announced are worth the actions to put an end to the problem of the crossing. Years ago that we ask for it and it doesn't arrive", said the popular pegolí spokesman, Ferran Gonzalez Ferrando.

“The delay is as inadmissible as it is outrageous”

The spokesman for the PP of Oliva, Salvador Cota, has listed in his speech the chronology of events that occurred with the works of the crossing since the concentration held in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Pego in 2018. After this demonstration, until February 2020 it was not reached to initially approve the layout project, although it finally took until June of the same year to be published in the BOE. But it was not until a year later, in April 2021, that it was definitively approved, with the subsequent three months until it was officially published again.

"After four years we are still waiting for the drafting of the construction project. To this day we have no record of the drafting. As inadmissible as it is outrageous. Due to all these delays, in July 2020 the PP presented a motion requesting that the works emergency action was declared with the intention of cutting the terms and speeding up the process. The motion was approved in the Pego and Oliva City Councils but it did not help at all," Cota insisted.

“We need to see an end to accident news in this black spot”

In addition, Oliva's spokesman has announced that the Popular Party will pressure the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez Jiménez, to speed up the procedures for drafting the construction project and the subsequent tender for the project. "We need to see an end to the news about accidents at this black point on the road and defend the residents who are in danger every time they cross this point. We ask the rulers of the Pego and Oliva City Councils that, if they want to be fair, They must be just as demanding with the Pedro Sánchez government as with other governments of the past," concluded Cota.

Agustín Almodóvar has also made a brief recapitulation of facts in his speech. From his position, he affirms that numerous amendments have been presented to the General State Budgets in order to cover the works that would put an end to the dangerous crossing. However, after managing to include one of them in the PGE of 2018, the motion of censure that ended with the Popular Party in the Central Government meant that this amendment had no relevance. "Despite the fact that the PGE were approved in 2018 with our amendment, the Government has still not executed the works," insisted the deputy. Therefore, he predicts that they will continue to submit resources to the budgets until they reach the desired goal in both Pego and Oliva.
