MASSMA's message in Icelandic against sexual violence at summer parties

13 July 2022 - 11: 09

The Servei Jove d'Atenció a les sexualitat (SJAS) of the Mancomunitat de serveis socials de la Marina Alta (MASSMA) has presented an awareness campaign to prevent sexual violence during the various summer festivals in the towns of the region.

“FAGNA LA NIT” or “DO NOT FOLLOW SLÍMUGUR QUE FAS ÓTTA” are the two campaign slogans that can be read on the posters distributed by the towns that are part of the Commonwealth. Two messages with words in Icelandic to attract the attention of young people in a more curious way.

"Si cal t'ho dic in Icelandic"

The main idea of the campaign is accompanied by the phrase "If necessary, I'll tell you in Icelandic", and consists of a series of messages that invite you to continue reading, that displace you and that break with the typical messages. Icelandic words have been used to later reveal their meaning and thus communicate the messages. Regarding the aesthetics of the campaign, an image has been chosen that reminds one of a nocturnal event, such as a concert or the poster of a leisure space. So you can stand out in party spaces.

With this campaign, the SJAS gives continuity to the work begun a few months ago where, for the first time, there is a team of professionals who attend to the needs of the young population in the municipalities of the MASSMA.

Since the service was launched in May of this year, about 30 young people have been treated, both online and in person, by the SJAS team of sexologists. Face-to-face care is itinerant through the different municipalities that make up the MASSMA and online care is done via Telegram.

On the other hand, the Servei has opted for a continued presence on networks, through the Instagram account “Obrim melons”. The same name given to the project's blog, where quality information is offered on different aspects of sexuality, such as pleasure, prevention, LGTBIQ+ or violence prevention, among others.
