During the afternoon of Monday, November 4, the mayors of Marina Alta met at the Hospital de Dénia with the manager of the Dénia Health Department, Juan Puig, to organize the distribution of the large amount of solidarity material collected by the City Councils, destined for the municipalities of Valencia that have suffered the effects of the DANA.
The meeting aimed to coordinate citizen aid, the magnitude of which has in some cases exceeded the capacity of the collection points set up by the local councils. According to the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, "the priority is to channel these deliveries effectively." To achieve this, each municipality will prepare an inventory of the collected products, which will be sent to the Dénia Hospital.
Thanks to this measure, when a municipality affected by the DANA needs specific material, it will be possible to consult the inventory and contact the town halls to manage the shipments in an agile and organized manner. In this way, it is hoped to improve the fluidity of the solidarity aid that reaches the most affected areas.
Grimalt expressed his gratitude to the public for the numerous displays of solidarity and donations received in recent days, but also requested that, for the moment, no more aid material be brought to the Youth building in Dénia, since it is currently not possible to manage more supplies. However, the mayor stated that, should citizen support be needed again, the population will be informed according to the instructions of the emergency coordination. In addition, he stressed that the current priority is for heavy machinery to reach the affected areas to collaborate in the clean-up work.
For the latest information on collection points in the different municipalities of the Marina Alta, it is recommended to consult the official information channels of each Town Hall in the region.
