Last Friday, October 18, the Compromís youth celebrated their XNUMXst Marina Alta Regional Congress, after the separation of the Marina Baixa group. At this congress, held in the regional capital, Pau Nofuentes from Dianense was elected the new regional secretary.
In addition, this regional coordinator will be formed by the Xabienca Júlia Català in the position of financial secretary; the area of communication and dynamization will be headed by the catero Pau Signes and the Xabienc Javier Gregorio, and in the area of organization there will be Desirée Ravesloot-Gemser, from Alcalalí.
"The objectives of the new coordinator are to work to guarantee decent access to housing at a time when it is more tense than ever, as well as to improve the productive model of the region, abandoning the extractive tourism model that suffocates the residents," they explain in a statement. In addition, they will continue to demand decent public transport that connects and structures the Central Regions and the Valencian Country, such as the connection Dénia-Gandia and the Mediterranean corridor.
This regional congress marks a new roadmap in which the two Marinas (Alta and Baixa) begin their separate journey. "With this new roadmap, each region will be able to develop specific strategies that respond to its particular needs. In addition, with a smaller operational area, each of the two coordinators will be able to work more closely with their towns and neighbours," they said.
Alberto Robles, the outgoing regional secretary, stressed that "this new coordinator has the motivation and activism necessary to continue working for our region, for Valencianism and to confront an autonomous government that is leaving young people aside." "I am sure that Pau and his team will do a magnificent job and that they will continue to position our organization as the reference youth organization in the Marina Alta," he said.
A review of the last two years was also made, highlighting the work carried out, which was unanimously ratified by those attending.
