The Xarxa Comarcal d'Igualtat of the Marina Alta presented this Wednesday in the plenary hall of the EATIM of Jesús Pobre the results of the study on the consumption of prostitution in the region, in an act open to all citizens. In addition, an institutional presentation of the conclusions and recommendations was made in Benissa to the local administrations of the region. The Marina Alta is one of the regions with the highest concentration of prostitution spaces in the Valencian Community. This study approaches the reality of men who consume sexual services, emphasizing the relationship of this phenomenon with the social factors of masculinities and how the consumption of prostitution is learned, shared, naturalized and legitimized through practices. collective activities associated with areas of life such as work, parties and sports.

In addition, this research, carried out by the La Dula cooperative, includes a mapping of existing places of prostitution in the region (roads, clubs, flats and the Internet), confirming a transition from a model organized around roadside clubs towards new forms of prostitution. of prostitution in private flats and chalets with a central role of new technologies.

Finally, a series of recommendations are proposed to guide public policies and actions with the aim of contributing to the elimination of the multiple inequalities that form the backbone of the world of prostitution.

This research has been promoted by the Xarxa Comarcal d'Igualtat Marina Alta, established in 2020 with the aim of collaborating, sharing resources and developing comprehensive public policies for equality and prevention of gender violence.

Aware that prostitution is a broad phenomenon that must be addressed from various fields and forms, the Xarxa is convinced that women in prostitution must be the priority subject of public policies, but it must also be addressed from the clients, understood as main actors.
