The Consell has authorized the signing of a collaboration agreement between Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Secretary of State for Tourism with the Intermunicipal Association of the Valley of Pop, for the execution of the Tourism Sustainability Plan. Through this agreement, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana will allocate almost 1 million euros to be executed during 2023.
The Tourism Sustainability Plans aim to support the reconversion of tourist destinations to maintain their attractiveness, and improve their competitiveness through the collaboration of the three administrations: Central Government, regional and local administrations.
The plan
The Vall de Pop Tourism Sustainability Plan is the first to be approved in the Valencian Community for a destination that is not on the coast. This Plan is part of the types of tourism sustainability plans in rural or inland destinations. It is a modality aimed at revitalizing and organizing tourist destinations in inland rural areas with cultural heritage, in protected natural spaces, focused on creating attractive and sustainable tourism products.
The percentage of investment of the administrations for this type of plans is different from that carried out in the Tourism Sustainability Plans in pioneer Destinations. Specifically, the Vall de Pop Plan presents a total investment of 1.512.591 euros of which the Secretary of State for Tourism will contribute a total of 500.000 euros (33% of the total), Turisme Comunitat Valenciana will allocate 50% with 760.000 euros, and the remaining investment in the plan will be made by the Vall del Pop Intermunicipal Association.
The candidature 'Vall de Pop: Landscape, sport and culture' has been selected for being an inland destination with high possibilities of developing synergies with coastal destinations such as Dénia or Calpe.
Performances
The main action of the Plan is the rehabilitation of a historic path, the Camí de les Voltes, recovering its dry stone surface. It includes other actions such as the improvement of the cycling infrastructure, a Plan for adaptation to climate change; a pedestrian connection action with a tourist resource under rehabilitation that is also part of the Plan; digitization and sensorization actions; the creation of a motorhome area; accessibility diagnosis and creation of a Smart office.
