The Hospital of Dénia Alicante has celebrated a Christmas day full of activities this Thursday, especially dedicated to paediatric patients. The morning began with a visit from Captain America, an event organised by the Alicante College of Nursing. The superhero toured the hospital ward and the paediatric outpatient clinics, surprising the little ones and their families. He also did not miss the opportunity to greet the healthcare staff.
At mid-morning, the children admitted to the hospital ward took on the role of protagonists by handing out gifts to the healthcare professionals. This initiative, promoted by the Nursing Department and coordinated by Sonia Osa Rodríguez, head of the Hospital Classroom, consisted of handing out crafts made by the patients themselves. Using depressor sticks, the children created snowman heads decorated with eyes, nose, mouth and Christmas decorations.
The day ended at noon with a musical event in the hospital hall. More than a hundred students from CEIP de La Xara, from 5-year-old Infants to Primary Education, performed a selection of Christmas carols that filled professionals, patients and visitors with the Christmas spirit. As a thank you, the children received a special gift: a pencil decorated with a shiny star cut out of EVA foam, to which they themselves added eyes, as part of a craft prepared by the Hospital Classroom.
