Compromís por Pedreguer already has its candidate for Mayor of the municipality for the next elections. In this sense, there are no surprises or changes. The current mayor, Sergi Ferrús Peris, will once again be the head of the coalition list. This has been decided by the local assembly, which has unanimously decided not to hold primaries.
The assembly was held this Tuesday, September 27, and valued the work carried out by Ferrús in the City Council during the last 15 years (both from the opposition as spokesman for the group between 2007 and 2011, and from the government, from 2011 until now) and, consequently, trust him again to lead the candidacy in the voting on May 28, 2023.
Ferrús was already a candidate in 2011, and held the Mayor's Office from that year until 2013, when he was replaced by the socialist Dora Martí, in compliance with what was established in the government pact that Compromís and PSPV agreed and that served as a model for the multiple progress pacts started during the last two legislatures. Currently, in addition to the functions of the Mayor's Office, he is in charge of the departments of Finance, Personnel, Interior, Equality, Diversities and Inclusive Policies, New Technologies and Projection of the Municipality.
Ferrús opens the electoral list to the citizens of Pedreguer
Once it was clarified that Ferrús will be the head of the list, the assembly decided to begin a process of participation with the citizens for the elaboration of the electoral program, "as the collective has traditionally done and in line with the participatory practices put into practice by the city council for the last eleven years. In this sense, the coalition also wants to invite citizens to join the process and participate, and points out that Ferrús has taken the opportunity "to open the list to anyone who wants to work for Pedreguer."
The Compromís assembly especially values the economic management carried out during the last legislatures and "which has led to a significant reduction in the debt (in December 2019 it reached €0, a situation that Pedreguer and the most veteran workers are not aware of) and has allowed during these years, increase the allocation dedicated to social spending (aid for higher education, social aid funds, increase in the Social Welfare item or employment plans); annually dedicate a significant amount to participatory budgets or have liquidity for, among other things, being able to pay for the different needs that have arisen (such as contributing the part corresponding to the city council of the numerous subsidies obtained). And in addition, this situation allows to be able to dedicate the surplus of cash to finance sustainable expenses”.
Ferrús also expressed the satisfaction of having achieved, with the management of good work teams, for "our town a significant increase in assets and significant investments from other administrations to be able to provide Pedreguer with the facilities it deserves, such as the covered pavilion, the future municipal museum, the rehabilitation of the 'Castellet del Ocaive', els Molinets, the new headquarters of the Home for Retired Persons, the rehabilitation of the Cultural Space, the Alfàs school gym, the rehabilitation of the Trinquete, among others, and leaving projects finished exciting projects such as the new health center or the remodeling of the Musical."
