The youth of Compromís de la Marina Alta and Safor Valldigna, known as Joves PV, have started a campaign to collect signatures and demand the train connection between Dénia and Gandia.
After fifty years of closure and an investment in studies that have not provided tangible solutions, the inhabitants of Marina Alta and Safor continue to wait for a viable connection between the centers of Dénia and Gandia. The restoration of the train line would not only improve territorial cohesion, keeping the cities of Valencia and Alacant together, but would also benefit two of the regions with the greatest demand for mobility in the country.
Through this collection of signatures, Joves PV demands an accessible, efficient and high-quality route that connects these regions, as well as the cities of Alacant and València quickly and effectively. The petition is available on Change.org.
From Joves PV – La Marina, its secretary, Alberto Robles, says: “We do not want any more broken promises from the government in power. We do not want any more studies that end up in a drawer without actions. We want the coastal train and we want it now.”
Damià Todolí, secretary of Safor Valldigna, adds: «The coastal train is not a whim, it is a commitment to structure the Valencian Country and have a connection with Catalonia and, therefore, with the rest of Europe. Furthermore, it is a necessity for many people, especially young people, who for work or studies must travel between both regions daily or we need this line to reach other places and a section is not the solution.
A connection between Dénia and Gandia with a quality public transport system would not only improve communication between towns, they say, but would also boost the local economy by increasing mobility and facilitating access to job opportunities for local residents. . Overall, thousands of people would benefit from it.
For this reason, they demand that the Government of the Generalitat and the central government implement an efficient connection between Dénia and Gandia as an essential part of structuring our territory and improving the quality of life of the residents who live here.
