Compromís per Pego warns of irregularities in the bases for awarding “Pego golf”

November 03 from 2022 - 08: 50

The Compromís per Pego formation has been surprised by the new programming bases for the award by indirect management of the integrated action program (PAI) «Pego golf», whose approval will be voted on in the ordinary plenary session that will take place today in the town .

The bases have been drawn up by Urbs Jurídica Abogados SL, a legal and technical advice office on urban planning in Alicante, which has also drawn up three legal reports for the City Council. The Valencianists have declared that they are surprised because "in the different legal reports issued by the office hired by the government team, the expiration of the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) is not mentioned at any time, nor does it make any reference to what this entails according to the Law for the Planning of the Urban Planning and Landscape of the Valencian Community (LOTUP), nor to the State Environmental Assessment Law", explained spokesman Àngel Oltra.

From Compromís they understand that the argument used by the government team that ensures that the DIA has not expired contradicts the aforementioned laws and can be a reason for prevarication in case of not complying with them. "Despite the fact that the mayor has repeatedly referred to the response of the General Directorate of Urbanism, the Ministry responsible for environmental evaluation has already responded that the DIA had ceased to produce its effects and that it had lost its validity without the need to formulate any express resolution of expiration, "they say.

Regarding the infeasibility of the management of the program by the City Council, Compromís explains that despite the lack of municipal own funds being justified, "there is no documentary justification that has been communicated to all the people with land in the project whether or not they want to take charge of that management". This issue would also be mandatory for an external agent to manage the new program according to current legislation.

For this reason, Compromís per Pego wanted to warn of these irregularities and the possible legal consequences that the different councilors may incur if they allow the approval of these bases knowing the shortcomings.

Nomenclature of the new library

Compromís per Pego has also wanted to refer to the participatory process of choosing the new name of the Municipal Library that is about to be released. In the plenary session, "a proposal from the PP will also be debated so that the new municipal library is called "Cervantes", which is why Compromís has presented an amendment to this proposal to carry out a true participatory process to choose the name of the library."

The formation ensures that the municipal government has opted for citizens to choose between two previously decided names, for which they consider them to be "a fairly limited participation, while the PP proposes that the new library inherit the name of the old school without any type of participation".

For this reason, Compromís proposes to bet on a more direct participation and that, in addition, this name "reflects the importance of women in our town". For this reason, Compromís defends that the names be proposed from the beginning by the citizens and that they be based on "distinguished women of the town in the world of culture or science, to make a first vote and decide the most popular, followed by a second vote between the two most voted names to reach the maximum possible consensus”, has concluded the councilman Edu Alcina.
