Compromís demands urgent measures from the government of Teulada Moraira in the face of the water crisis

August 20 from 2024 - 09: 36

The municipal group of Compromís por Teulada Moraira, led by its spokesperson Rosa Vila Vallés, has presented a letter to the City Council today in which it expresses its "deep concern about the poor management of the water supply by the Popular Party government team ». Compromís highlights that this situation "seriously affects the daily lives of residents," and calls for a response "more efficient and adapted to the real needs of the population."

Since the non-potability of water in Teulada Moraira was declared, Compromís has been proposing concrete measures to mitigate the effects of this water crisis, with the aim of reducing the impact on citizens (they explain in a statement), with the aim of distributing drinking water and reducing the cost of the bill.

Thanks to this pressure - they explain - water has begun to be distributed, but Compromís denounces that the local government continues to "manage it inadequately and without listening to the majority of citizens." "We have managed to distribute water, but the local government continues to ignore the needs of the people, distributing water in inadequate conditions, with minimal, confusing information that changes every day," said Rosa Vila.

In this context, Compromís has proposed that, instead of continuing to distribute water in drums, priority be given to the distribution of bottled water, which is "more practical and safer for fellow citizens." Likewise, they have requested that, if the use of drums is maintained as a complementary measure, they be placed in safer and more central places in urban centers, thus facilitating access for all citizens, especially people with mobility difficulties. In addition, they propose enabling a specific telephone number to serve those people with reduced mobility who are not registered in the Home Care Service (SAD).

Compromís also demands that, as long as the water is not suitable for consumption, billing for the service be suspended or part of its cost be subsidized, to prevent citizens from having to pay for a service that they cannot use with guarantees.

The Valencians have pointed out: «We have been without drinking water for 20 days, and the measures arrive in dribs and drabs, always under pressure from the citizens and from Compromís, who have forced the call of an extraordinary plenary session and the Water Consortium to approve the few actions. that have been carried out. Water has been distributed for a week and it is done poorly, with construction drums placed on sports fields and protected by a terrace parasol that, as we have seen and verified, is left unprotected at certain times of the day. "We insist that the government must listen to the people and carry out the measures that we have requested."
