Compromís has denounced this morning that the Government of the Generalitat has applied cuts to the hiring plans for unemployed people. As stated, yesterday the first resolution of what in previous editions was known as the EMPUJU plan (Employment subsidy program for the hiring of unemployed people under 30 years of age by local entities of the Valencian Community) was published. "Surprisingly, this plan has suffered a decrease of more than 55% of the amount allocated in 2023 by the previous government (Compromís-PSPV), going from €30.000.000 to €13.372.000," the Valencians have declared.
The training denounces that the Marina Alta is one of the regions most affected by this cut, since in the new edition of the plan, "the municipalities with fewer inhabitants are excluded from the distribution of resources." They specify that of the 33 municipalities in the region, only 12 localities will be beneficiaries of the distribution of the 13 million to be able to hire young people to work in the town halls. The towns that will be eligible for the subsidy are: Benissa, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Calp, Dénia, Cat of Gorgos, Xàbia, Ondara, Pedreguer, Pego, Teulada Moraira, Els Poblets and El Verger.
The rest of the towns would be left out, "to the surprise of town councils such as Orba, Alcalalí, Vall d'Ebo, Xaló or Ràfol," they list.
The Valencians have highlighted: «These subsidies were highly demanded and necessary for our town councils. They represented a boost for municipal departments that do not have the necessary personnel, specifically in smaller municipalities that have so many personnel needs. Now we are denied this help, which will mean that next year we will probably leave the town without services that we now provide and deny job opportunities to young people, the group with the least economic resources and opportunities currently.
Compromís deputies from the Marina Alta such as Ximo Perles and Gerard Fullana have also expressed their concern. Perles highlighted: «From the Provincial Council we will demand that this nonsense be reversed. It is essential that the Generalitat continues to focus on providing job opportunities and contributing to the improvement of services of the administrations that help the neighborhood the most on a daily basis. Furthermore, with this cut, Mazón places young people at the target of unemployment and precariousness. "We have a government that is doing nothing to combat youth unemployment, that does not address the housing problem and that now denies access to a well-paid job."
For his part, Fullana has declared: «A new cut to Mr. Mazón's towns and we have already lost count. Those of us who, like me, have managed a small town council like Xaló know well how important it was to receive a subsidy to hire staff for tasks such as street maintenance, administration or paperwork. Cutting the beneficiaries and the money to hire those under 30 years of age simply sends a clear message: the Valencian government is indifferent to young people and people from small towns, curiously the age group and the localities where the PP obtains worse election results after choice".
