Compromís denounces the lack of implementation of agricultural subsidies from the Generalitat and its "catastrophic consequences" for the Marina Alta

20 June 2024 - 17: 19

«The people of the Valencian countryside are suffering the worst ministry in history. They have implemented 0% of aid to the countryside, presenting the worst figures in recent years. The farmers' demonstration this Friday is perfectly justified and has the support of Compromís," declared Gerard Fullana (Compromís) in les Corts.

Regarding this aid and its delay, specifically in the Marina Alta region, a million-dollar loss of economic resources is expected, since, according to the unions, the serious drought has "catastrophic consequences" - in the words of Fullana - for productions such as table grapes, which will not have any aid from the department, leaving municipalities such as Benissa, Teulada Moraira, Xaló or Llíber without aid despite the losses in the harvest this year. There is also a delay in the payment of subsidies for cherries, directly affecting the towns of the Valls de Gallinera and Laguar. This payment is expected to be paid from 2023.

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the government of Carlos Mazón, directed by VOX, is in the spotlight for its lack of budget management and execution, explained the Compromís politician. "This situation has generated a wave of discontent and protests among farmers and ranchers, culminating in the call for a demonstration by the unions La Unió and AVA ASAJA next Friday," he commented.

During the appearance of the Autonomous Secretary of Agriculture, Javier Bartolomé, requested by Compromís on September 28, 2023, deputy Gerard Fullana presented some data that reveals the magnitude of the ineffectiveness of this department. The budget execution data shows that, as of April 30, there has been no obligation or payment in chapters 4, 6 and 7, dedicated only to paying payroll. In total, only 6% of the total budget allocated to the Department of Agriculture for the year 2024 has been executed.

"The most worrying thing is that of this 6%, none of the resources have been allocated to paying subsidies for the Valencian countryside," they claim from the orange party.

Furthermore, Compromís has pointed out the "serious management problems" such as the aid promised to producers of nuts, stone fruits, cereals, extensive livestock farming or beekeeping, since they have not yet been implemented and are months behind. other administrations. On the other hand, the Valencian government has excluded vines and olive trees from aid due to the drought.

During the commission, it was also highlighted how the promotional campaign for Valencian citrus fruits has been eliminated, as well as the increase in thefts in the Valencian countryside in recent months "without any proposal beyond press releases and advertisements." On the other hand, the abandonment of livestock farming in issues as important as complementary aid to the hemorrhagic disease that affects a large part of Valencian livestock.

«The people of the Valencian countryside are suffering the worst ministry in history. They have implemented 0% of aid to the countryside, presenting the worst figures in recent years. The farmers' demonstration this Friday is perfectly justified and has the support of Compromís. VOX sold us to society that they, and only them, were the ones who defended the countryside, and now it turns out that they are the worst enemy of the sector," highlighted Gerard Fullana.

He wanted to point out these words: "The regional secretary has talked about future plans, but not a single proposal for the present. He has focused on attacking the previous government but has not offered any solution to the current chaos. Of the 10 questions we have asked from Compromís, none have been answered. We can say that they are the government of 'we will do and we promise', but the reality is that a year later they neither do nor let do."
