The consequences of the floods suffered in the Valencia region on October 29 are still very present in the affected municipalities. Waves of citizen solidarity quickly rushed to send food, water and necessary supplies to the people affected by the terrible catastrophe. It has been just over two weeks since everything happened and the towns of the Marina Alta continue to promote initiatives or participate in them to help in any way possible.
Most of the municipalities in the region have informed their citizens that the coordination of the affected municipalities has requested that the collection and delivery of, above all, food be stopped. This is due to the inability to manage all the material or the lack of space to store it. As soon as more things are required again, they will let the citizens know.
However, until now we have seen other initiatives such as the coordination of volunteers who leave from the towns by bus to come and help those affected. In recent days we have seen everything from municipal help, such as local workers and police who go to the Valencian regions with machinery or vehicles, to companies and private initiatives that send everything necessary.
Social networks have been the greatest tool for local administrations to organize all the help for the residents of Marina Alta. Today, and for the moment, some of these initiatives are still active to continue providing help through the Town Halls. These are:
School supplies collection in Benissa
The Department of Education and the educational centres of Benissa have an active School Supplies Collection for the educational centres affected by the DANA. Among the objects that can be donated are backpacks, pencil cases, stationery, blushes, notebooks and sheets, children's and educational toys, folders, books and stories.
Benissa's educational centres are responsible for collecting it, so it can be taken to IES Josep Iborra, CEIP Manuel Bru, CEIP Pare Melchor, CPEE Gargasindi, Guardería Bambi and Escuela Infantil La Puríssima. The collection hours are from 09:00 to 14:00, on the days when the centres are open.

This week, from November 14, Murla City Council continues collecting materials for those affected from 08:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m. in the town hall building and from 15:00 p.m. to 17:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Centre. The Council specifies some of the items that can be brought: for personal hygiene, cleaning products, toilet paper, rain boots or blankets.
Volunteer bus from Senija
A bus will leave Senija on Sunday 17 November with volunteers to help in the municipalities of Valencia. The means of transport has been contracted by the City Council and the material collected during the week will also be delivered. To sign up, you will need to go to the City Council, as places are limited.
The Ugly Day Festival in Moraria will donate the proceeds to the victims
The Ugly MC association from Teulada Moraira is organising its annual charity festival this weekend, on 16 and 17 November, in collaboration with the City Council. This year, the profits will go to those affected by the DANA in Valencia. Learn more.
Accounts to channel financial aid
The Calp City Council, for its part, reminds us on its social networks of some accounts enabled to make donations to people affected by the DANA. On the other hand, it is the Generalitat Valenciana that channels aid and donations to the victims through a form addressed to institutions or entities who wish to donate aid. Once the form has been completed and sent, the Generalitat will contact the donor entities to activate the logistics of the delivery.
