May 21 from 2025 - 11: 40

Teulada Moraira has been recognized worldwide with third place in the 2025 Good Practices Competition, in the "Adaptation to Climate Change" category. This distinction, awarded by an international jury supported by the UN and linked to the Blue Flags program, was granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in recognition of the municipality's efforts to raise awareness and promote the protection of the natural and marine environment.

2003 from the Municipality of Teulada carries out an environmental education program aimed at highlighting the municipality's natural spaces and promoting good practices among residents and visitors. The distinction received in this edition of the competition is due, especially, to the environmental education and awareness workshops held on the beach of La Ampolla during the summer of 2024.

These workshops, held on July 25th and August 1st and 8th, provided beachgoers with information about the natural values of the coastline, highlighting the fundamental role of Posidonia seagrass meadows and seaweed remains in coastal protection. "The accumulation of these elements on beaches acts as a natural barrier against sand loss, a key factor in the fight against climate change," the council notes.

In addition to these activities, the City Council has developed four other environmental initiatives during the year, such as Nighttime ecotourism routes, educational workshops in schools, and the "Recycle to Conserve the Sea" awareness workshop., in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Ecoembes. All of these initiatives have contributed to strengthening the municipality's commitment to environmental education and environmental conservation.

This recognition is added to the recent obtaining of three Blue Flags for El Portet Beach, Les Platgetes Beach, and the Moraira Yacht Club. These awards certify the beaches' environmental quality, as well as their safety, accessibility, waste management, and water quality.

Councilor for Beaches and the Environment, Pilar Vidal, stated that "this third award, received through the environmental awareness and sensitization workshops on the dunes we hold on our beaches, is an honor for us, because our goal is to care for and raise awareness of the essential importance of protecting and conserving the natural and marine environment of Teulada Moraira."

For his part, the mayor Raul Llobell He emphasized that "this is the first time these awards have been presented in Spain, and it's a true honor that one of them has been awarded specifically to Teulada Moraira." He added that "it's important to raise awareness among both our residents and visitors about the importance of protecting our environment, because Teulada Moraira deserves to be cared for. Therefore, receiving these unique and significant recognitions motivates us to continue working to raise awareness and protect Teulada Moraira, a place where its natural and marine environment is exceptional."
