The town councils of Els Poblets and El Verger have launched a programme to capture wild boar using large cages with video surveillance, to make population control more effective.
The trapping has all the permits from the Generalitat and is already bearing fruit, being carried out through the company Ibérica Control y Capturas SL. Since November 25, 26 captures have been recorded in the cage located in El Verger and 21 in the one in Els Poblets. These cages are not located in fixed places and will be changed as needed. With the addition of Ondara, it is hoped that control will be more homogeneous and will allow action to be taken in more areas.
In addition, contact is also being made with the hunting societies of the different municipalities to carry out controls in those areas where it is permitted. The animals are destined for food. The corresponding analyses are carried out and, to date, all the pieces have been found suitable.
With these actions, the Town Councils of El Verger, Els Poblets and Ondara comply with the proposals made by the Mayors' Network and the concerns of citizens about the pressure exerted by wild boars on the territory.
