This week the Parc del Garrofers was opened to the public, following the remodeling works that began last May. This is the comprehensive remodeling of this urban park located next to the House of Culture and close to the Civic Center. The works were awarded to the company Cemer Play SL for an amount of 230.989 euros and are 100% financed by the Provincial Council within the +Cerca 2023 Plan.
At this time, the actions have consisted of replacing the children's games and creating a continuous impact-absorbing pavement. The equipment in the park has also been replaced by installing new benches and new litter bins. All the wooden material in the park is made from rice husks. This type of material does not require maintenance and is much more durable since it is waterproof. Additionally, some of the games contain elements made from marine plastics recycled by Gravity Wave.
In the lower area of the park there was a circuit of healthy elements in poor condition due to their length of service and new equipment has been installed equipped with 4 healthy elements and 2 elements for users with reduced mobility. In addition, a wooden pergola has been installed in a paved area where tables with wooden benches are located.
The fence that was in poor condition and that encloses the perimeter of the park has also been renewed. To increase shade in the children's play area, mulberry trees have been planted in specific areas and the park's public toilets have been renovated.
The mayor, Ana Sala, visited the park this morning, accompanied by the councillors Juan Manuel del Pino and Guillermo Sendra, and pointed out that "the objective is to continue renovating and improving the parks in the municipality. Projects are already underway to improve the park in Plaza Ifac and the park between Plaza Mayor and Calle Navío. These facilities need to be renovated and provided with more shade."
