Calp announces the poster for the Calpe Pop Festival led by the singer Marta Sánchez

05 July 2022 - 14: 15

The singer Marta Sánchez will be the highlight of the second edition of the Calpe Pop Festival, a musical event that the Calp City Council intends to turn into a consolidated event for the Asunción bridge and thus complement the patron saint festivities dedicated to the Virgen de las Nieves and els Bous al Carrer which are held the first fortnight of August.

The mayor, Ana Sala, the Councilor for Festivities, Paco Avargues, the president of the 2022 festivities commission, Mariola Mulet, as well as that of the 2023 festivities commission, Aroa Pineda, and that of the Santíssim Crist de la Suor Association of Moors and Christians, M. ª Ángeles Penella presented this festival this morning, which this year will take place over two days, instead of one like last year.

"This mini-festival is gradually making a hole in Calp's festive calendar and we want it to gain momentum to become a consolidated musical event", said Councilor Paco Avargues.

The Calpe Pop Festival will be held on August 13 and 14 at the Parc de la Creativitat and the first day will feature performances by local groups Los Astrolabios and Mc Lucas the Band as well as the Tumbalea Revolution macrodiscomóvil with animation and the participation of the DJ Nestor Garcia. Marta Sánchez's performance is scheduled to take place on August 14.

"We take advantage of the most important weekend of the year in terms of the influx of people in the municipality to offer this concert just when the patron saint festivities have ended and coinciding with a festive bridge in which many people are on a getaway or on vacation", has highlighted Ana Sala who added that the festival “was born with the idea of consolidating it and perpetuating it over time”.

The festival, admission to which is free, has cost the City Council 68.000 euros, as explained by the mayor. In addition, the event will be organized through the company Excelsior.

The festivities commissions for 2022, 2023 and the Santíssim Crist de la Suor Moors and Christians Association will set up bars on those days to raise funds for the festivities.
