Benitatxell reaches out to the public to put an end to sexist violence

November 17 from 2022 - 16: 24

On the occasion of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Department of Equality and Gender Policies and the Association of Women of Poble Nou de Benitatxell have prepared a program of commemorative activities that will be held from November 19 to November 26.

The programming will revolve around the awareness campaign 'Give your face against violence against women'. The message, despite the fact that it seeks to involve the whole of society and asks not to remain silent in the face of violence against women, appeals especially to men: "Share porn videos with a group of friends, control your partner's mobile, deny the sexist violence, being a whoremonger, insulting and humiliating your partner, intimidating a woman on the street... Be a man. Stand up against violence against women.

The events will begin on Saturday 19, at 10:30 am in the Municipal Library, with the 'Breakfast between books and women', a marathon reading texts written by women with the aim of promoting equality in the world of writing. This year Amparo Murgui, author of 'El pozo de los silencios', will be the hostess. In addition, that same Saturday and Sunday, the group of feminist artists 'Les 9 muses' will work on the creation of a mural in the Placeta dels Mestres.

The programming will continue with various talks and workshops. The first, 'What I deserve is not negotiable', will take place on Tuesday the 22nd at 19:00 p.m., by Reneé Aguilar. On Wednesday the 23rd, the Matria Association of Women, together with the Associació de Dones del Poble Nou de Benitatxell, will carry out a vaccination campaign against gender violence starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Plaza del Mercado. In the afternoon, at 19:00 p.m. at the Social Center, the II Municipal Equality Plan (2023-2027) of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell will be presented. And on Thursday 24, a series of training audiovisuals will be broadcast throughout the day on the City Council's social networks to help eradicate sexist violence.

Friday, November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, will be the central day of the programming. In the morning, at 12:00 noon, the students of CEIP Santa Maria Magdalena will read a manifesto against sexist violence in the schoolyard. In the afternoon, a floral offering and an emotional act of remembrance will be held for all the women murdered this 2022, which are already 76 (not all of them recorded in the official figures), according to the latest feminicidio.net update.

The program of events will conclude on Saturday 26 with the storyteller 'Artur y Clementina', at 11:00 a.m. in the Library; and self-defense workshops for girls and boys (12:00 p.m., mixed) and women (13:00 p.m., non-mixed) by Washinkai Kárate in the dance room of the School of Music.
