The Local Police of Poble Nou de Benitatxell celebrated this past weekend the day of their patron saint, the Holy Guardian Angels. For this reason, on Sunday, after a mass in the Santa María Magdalena church, the medal ceremony was held.

Present at the event were the mayor of Benitatxell, Miguel Ángel García, the Councilor for Citizen Security, María José Ivars, the head of the Local Police, José Francisco Mayans, and the lieutenant commander of the Civil Guard of Xàbia, Juan Carlos López.

The City Council and the Local Police recognized with medals the 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service of nine of its agents. In addition, an acknowledgment was also given to Pascual Soler, a retired police officer who served more than 35 people in Poblera, and to the new agent Juan Miguel Rovira, who joined the local force last July.

In the same way, the lieutenant of the Civil Guard took advantage of the occasion to award recognition to the agent José Vicente García and the head of Civil Protection, Arturo Esteve, for their fundamental performance in the search device for Antonio Llobell, the resident of Benitatxell who disappeared last February and was found dead a few days later.

The mayor dedicated a few words to the police officers, highlighting their great value and how lucky the men and women from Pobleros are to be able to count on them whenever they are needed, especially in the most difficult times. "The Local Police is the reflection of the City Council in the street and we could not have better representation." For her part, the Councilor for Security wanted to highlight the human facet of each and every one of the agents, placing special emphasis on the difficult times that were experienced in the pandemic.
