On the occasion of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Department of Equality, headed by Isa Garrido, has prepared a program of commemorative activities that will
will be held from 23 to 30 November. Associations and entities such as the Associació de Dones del Poble Nou de Benitatxell, the European Union of Women Marina Alta (EUWMA) and Clásicas y Modernas are collaborating in it.
Programme
The events will begin on Saturday November 23, at 11:00 am in the Library, with the storyteller 'Tales and rhymes belly up', by Alberto Celdrán. But it will be the July 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the central day of the week. In the morning, the students of CEIP Santa María Magdalena will read the manifesto against gender-based violence. In the afternoon, the Associació de Dones has prepared a Cinefórum in which the film 'Bajo terapia' will be screened. After this, there will be a discussion with Renée Aguilar. Afterwards, the participants will go in procession to the Town Hall, from where the manifesto in support of 25N will be read.
The programming will continue July 26 with a self-defence workshop for women of all ages with Paddy Brennan from EUWMA, followed by dance exercises with Pam Small. Coffee and sweets will be provided before the workshop. miércoles 27On market day, a participatory mural will be created, in collaboration with the Associació de Dones, in memory of women victims of gender violence in 2024.
El 28 Thursday The round table 'Indicators and resources in situations of gender violence' has been scheduled for the afternoon, in which professionals from the Centre Dona Dénia, agents from the Local Police and professionals from the Basic Primary Care Zone will participate.
El viernes 29 There will be two more proposals. In the morning, EUWMA has organised a talk at the Jávea Golf Club entitled 'How to deal with gender violence? Regional and municipal resources' with Pilar Vidal (Guardia Civil Calp) and Elena de Alkaia (Local Police Xàbia). And in the afternoon, Dr. Régulo Lorente, who has been the family doctor for three generations for more than 40 years in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, will speak to us at the Social Centre about 'Silenced Voices. Treating gender violence from a family medicine perspective'.
El Saturday 30 On the morning of November 1st, to round off the programme, the sixth meeting of 'Breakfast between books and women' will be held in the Library, a marathon of reading texts written by women with the aim of promoting equality in the world of writing. This year the host will be Amparo Zacarés, author of the book 'Gender violence explained to teenagers' and president of Clásicas y Modernas, an association with which the City Council collaborates through an agreement.
