Benitatxell has recently signed a lease to enable a plot of land on Carrer de les Escoles as a public parking lot. With this 1.061 m2 plot of land located in a strategic location, both due to its proximity to the school and to one of the main avenues of the municipality, the supply of parking spaces will be considerably enhanced.
It is estimated that it will be able to accommodate about 30 cars. The entrance will be made from Carrer de les Escoles, but a pedestrian access will also be enabled through Avinguda d'Alacant, thus connecting both areas.
On the one hand, it responds to the need to improve road safety at peak times of entry and exit from CEIP Santa María Magdalena, since parents, mostly residents in urbanizations and outskirts of the urban nucleus, use private transport to take students to school. In addition, it will also respond to the lack of parking that arises when festive or cultural events are held and cars have to be evacuated from the main streets of the urban area.
But not only that. Looking to the medium term, this new car park will be part of one of the great actions of the legislature: the reorganization of Avenida de Alacant, Carrer de les Escoles, the rise of the Oratory and the corner of Abiar to adapt a school itinerary safe, one-way traffic for vehicles and wide sidewalks for pedestrians.
And it is that, as the mayor has highlighted, Miguel Ángel García, "the aspiration of this government team is to achieve a green, safe and friendly town with pedestrians, betting on the pedestrianization or semi-pedestrianization of urban roads to recover the street for people and children". All this, he added, "without losing sight of the importance of having large and well-located parking spaces".
