The underwater photography contest XIV OPEN FOTOSUB GEAS – IX FASCV CUP 2022 was held last weekend, revalidating its consolidation at the national level. Sponsored by Turismo Benissa and Turismo Teulada-Moraira, this event has managed to position itself as one of the most important events in this discipline of underwater imaging, with participants coming to the region from different parts of the peninsula.
The test began last Saturday from the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Moraira, leaving the 38 divers to the dive points assigned by lottery. The participants have had to carry out two dives of 70 minutes each, with a great atmosphere among all the athletes and with a state of the sea in perfect conditions for the practice of this discipline, photographing the impressive seabed of our two locations, Benissa and Teulada Moraira.
The 18 participating teams have had to present to the jury a collection of five photos, made up of ambient photos, fish and macro photography, being able to edit these images during the competition with their own camera software plus a creative one, giving the green light to imagination of each participant.
Prize giving
The award ceremony was held on Sunday the 3rd at Cases de Batle in Benissa, attended by the councilors of Tourism of the two towns, Mr. Alejandro Llobell from the Teulada City Council and Jorge Ivars from the Benissa City Council.
During the event, attendees were able to enjoy a video of everything that had happened the day before, as well as another with all the collections presented by these great underwater photographers, finally closing with a prize-giving ceremony for the winners.
This Open also rewards the best underwater photographers in the Valencian Community with the IX FASCV CUP, as there is a great interest in this discipline in our area.
The test passed without any mishap, thanks to the good work of the two Nautical Clubs of both locations, Civil Protection, diving centers and other collaborators.
In this edition, the two municipalities have produced commemorative postcards to promote diving tourism in Benissa and Teulada Moraira. The goal is that all these precious images not only remain in the memory of the cameras, but also go as far as possible, being enjoyed by everyone, especially by people who do not have the opportunity to dive into the spectacular waters of our coastline.
The organizers are already preparing the XV OPENGEAS 2023 for next year. Contrary to this, the boats will depart from the Benissa Yacht Club, with the awards ceremony being held in the municipality of Teulada Moraira.
