This year, the Benissa City Council's Festivities Department, in collaboration with the Puríssima Xiqueta 2025 Festivities Committee, has launched an important measure to improve urban hygiene during the patron saint festivities: the installation of the 'Toilet Truck', a modern, high-quality portable toilet trailer.
This service will be available from April 25th to May 4th at Paseo Joaquín Piera i Mariana Torres. The objective is clear: to offer a comfortable, accessible, and clean alternative for all those who participate in the
parties, while minimizing uncivil behavior such as urinating in public.
The "Toilet Truck" is equipped with every comfort: porcelain tile walls, ceramic sinks and toilets, running water, electric lights, air conditioning, soap, hand dryers, mirrors, and hangers on the doors. There will be separate restrooms for men and women.
In addition, it will feature a continuous cleaning service to ensure optimal conditions throughout the day. The Councilor for Festivals, Adrián Cabrera, stated that "people deserve this investment to offer them a comfortable, clean, and accessible space."
For his part, Arturo Poquet, mayor of Benissa, emphasized that "these festivities are one of the most anticipated times of the year, and we deserve to work hard to ensure everyone can experience them in the best possible conditions. Committing to civility also means committing to a more caring and respectful Benissa."
Iván Fernández, president of the Puríssima Xiqueta 2025 Festival Committee, also welcomed this measure: "We are very happy to be able to collaborate with this initiative and, at the same time, proud to be the first committee to have this toilet truck during the festival. It's an improvement for the town's image and for the comfort of festival-goers, residents, and visitors."
