The town hall of Pego is located at Plaça de l'Ajuntament number 1. The construction where the town hall is located is a stately building dating from 1857. In the square where it is located there is also the Church of the Assumption. Both buildings make up one of the points of historical interest in the municipality.
Next you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with.
History
The Plaça de l'Ajuntament de Pego receives its name from the town hall building of which there are archives dating from the year 1500, approximately. For this reason, it is known that, in 1595, the municipality became part of the patrimony of the Dukes of Gandia, the Borja.
But, it was not until after the War of Succession that the Consell, which ruled the town from within, was renamed City Hall. In addition, the stately building where the council is located also receives the name of Casa de la Villa. That is why, currently, there is an inscription with that name on its façade.
Departments and offices
Different services are located in the town hall's facilities, which are distributed in the various rooms and offices that it houses. Among them, you can find:
- General registration
- Municipal Register
- Cemetery Management Department
- Intervention-treasury
- Urban planning area
Other offices and services
The consistory deals with various areas necessary for the proper development of the municipality. For this reason, scattered around the town you can find different offices in charge of helping citizens to manage their procedures. Some of the most important are:
- OCAPA by Pego, the Regional Office of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Water. Being a mainly agricultural municipality, the procedures that take place there are fundamental for the residents.
- Creama in Pego, since it is the body in charge of boosting employment throughout the Marina Alta.
- In the Office of Add Pego, the tax management body of the Alicante Provincial Council, various procedures are carried out. Among them, it is the cadastral information point of the town and where residents go to register their ACCV user (Autoritat de Certificació de la Comunitat Valenciana).
