The procedures for the construction of a new roundabout at the black point of Cansalades, at the intersection of the CV-740 and the CV-747 between Benitatxell and Xàbia, they advance at a good pace. After the Alicante Provincial Council confirmed in May 2022 the funding reserve for the drafting of the project, it is now ready and the investment that the provincial entity must make is already known: the document determines that 587.016 euros must be spent.
The project has already been provisionally approved by the Provincial Council and has been exposed to the public. Once final approval is obtained, the adjacent lands will be expropriated and, subsequently, the work will be put out to tender. It is estimated that work will begin in 2024 and will have a completion period of six months.
The implementation of the roundabout will mean the widening of the road in the section where the road that goes to Xàbia from Benitatxell and the Camí Cansalades intersect. The roundabout will have several exits, both for the main traffic routes and for the closest rural areas.
«We all know perfectly well the intersection of Cansalades and the Xàbia road. We know the number of accidents that, unfortunately, have occurred, and we know of the urgent need for our people to be able to have the correct infrastructure so that it stops being a black spot on our roads," said the mayor.
The improvement of this access has been demanded in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell for many years. In fact, the Provincial Council had already planned a large-scale action to improve this section of the road, which runs between the Benitatxell road to the intersection of the Camí Cabanes de Xàbia and has a length of approximately 5 km. However, thanks to the proposal of the current government team (Més Benitatxell) to separate this work from the roundabout from the large project, the action has fit into the Special Access Improvement Plan.
