On February 10, Calp will host a conference dedicated to the analysis of the “Challenges of the governance of tourist rentals in holiday destinations”. This is a pioneering debate on the subject, which will bring together experts and representatives of all sectors involved in the regulation and management of this activity in the Valencian Community.
Content and speakers
The event will begin at 09:30 a.m., in the Auditorium of the Calp House of Culture, with the welcome of the mayor, Ana Sala, and the Councillor for Tourism Planning, Mireia Ripoll, accompanied by the Director of the University Institute for Tourism Research, Josep Ivars. Next, the urban architect Gerardo Roger will give the opening lecture entitled “Housing and tourist rentals in urban planning and management”.
The programme will continue with three roundtable discussions. The first, “Apartments and tourist rentals: current situation from a business perspective”, will feature the participation of Silvia Blasco Benito, president of the Association of Apartments and Tourist Housing of the Valencian Community (APTUR CV); Mayte García Córcoles, general secretary of the Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Community (HOSBEC); and Carmen Ibáñez Pascual, LSO Manager of Interhome. This debate will be moderated by Ana B. Ramón Rodríguez, professor of Applied Economics at the University of Alicante.
The second panel, “The complex regulation of tourist rentals”, will address legal and regulatory challenges with the participation of Sonia Badal Sáez, head of the Tourism Planning and Processing Service of the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism; Marta Echevarría Llombart, deputy director general of Tourism of the same ministry; and Jorge Moya Ballester, professor of Commercial Law at the University of Alicante. Reyes González Ramírez, professor of Business Organization at the University of Alicante, will moderate the debate.
Finally, the third panel, entitled “New analysis techniques and instruments for the management of tourist rentals in holiday destinations”, will bring together Natacha de Freitas Silva, from Geoinnova; César de Mingo Calvo, from Global Omnium; Manuel Miró Navarro, head of the Territorial Area of the Calp City Council; and Armando Ortuño, professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Alicante. The moderator will be José F. Perles Ribes, head of the Economic Promotion Area of the Calp City Council.
The aim of this conference is to reflect and debate on the impact of tourist rentals, their regulation and new forms of collaboration for the future of tourism in holiday destinations.
