Athletics is gaining followers in the region and this was demonstrated this Sunday in the first 21 km Marina Alta half marathon. The event reached the maximum expected participation, since it managed to gather the maximum number of registered runners, selling out the 500 places days before. The participants toured the towns of Dénia, Els Poblets, El Verger and Ondara, with the Dianense athletics track being the start and finish of the entire route.
In the general classification, in men, it was José Manuel García Barragán, from CE Llebeig Xàbia who won with a time of 1:13:01, and, in women, Yolanda Font Monfort (1:31:12), from CD Kamikazes Gang.
By categories, in Senior Women, the winner was Yolanda Font Monfort, in second place, Sarah Melissa de Jonghe (1:41:31) and, in third place, Ana Bisquert Ribes (1:42:37), from CE Llebeig Xàbia . In Senior men, Francisco López Ortolà (1:14:15), Daniel Pajarón Morera (1:18:10) and Toni Soler Llidó (1:20:14) reached the podium.
The men's Veterans A classification was dominated by José Manuel García Barragán, Robert Harrison and Jorge Llàcer Esplugues. In Veteranas A women, Irene Llario Soler, Katie Harrisson and Cristina Mansilla Conca took the podium. Regarding the men's Veterans B, Miguel Ferrer Ballester, Aitor Cabezas García and Máximo Folqués Lorente won. In female Veterans B, Elena Herrero Gómez, Yolanda Sendra Sánchez and Vega Torró Aranda.
