The controversy continues over the decision made by the mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, last week to remove the exclusive dedication regime to two PSPV councilors. If this morning we knew that Compromís has aligned himself with PSPV to whom he has given his support for the decision of the mayor, this morning Sala has also explained, in a press conference, what is his position on the matter.
For Sala, when in 2019 he offered them the exclusivity regime, he did so so that "they could participate actively but in these two years they have not justified their work and I understand that the remuneration must be proportional to the service they offer to Calp."
Ana Sala has compared the functions carried out by the PSPV councilors, until now with exclusive dedication, with those of Compromís who do not have it. "That is why I think they should receive the same as the rest of the opposition, based on the activity carried out in their presence in plenary sessions and commissions."
To justify his decision, Sala has stated to the media that "if 8 negotiating tables have been called from November 2019 to today, only 1 member of the PSPV has gone to a commission. They are here to contribute and they have not done so."
In addition, the mayor of Calp has defended that during several plenary sessions they have been asked to help them, for example with the Generalitat, governed by PSOE, Compromís and Podemos. "The one who charges, they have to justify that he charges and they have not done it."
Along these lines, Sala has sentenced: "We have come this far. It is not against people, it is that to make the same opposition as the rest, that they charge the same. Their work is unproductive, I felt that I was embezzling public funds and I have a responsibility I know that I was wrong giving them exclusive dedication and now I have rectified ".
