AEMET maintains the yellow alert: how long will it rain in the Marina Alta?

23 March 2022 - 08: 16

The rainy episode has been over the region for several days. However, the forecasts do not show that the next days will be better. But, for the time being, yesterday the State Meteorological Agency extended the yellow alert throughout the day today, Wednesday, March 23, until midnight.

Similarly, the alert on coastal phenomena is still in force with wind from the east and northeast of force 7. In addition to the fact that the waves could reach 3 or 4 meters.

Coast

With respect to Xàbia, the seven-day forecast published by AEMET, which runs until next Monday, March 28, confirms the rainy trend for the rest of the week and, also, during the weekend.

However, the rainfall there has not been as abundant as in other points. For example, the meteorological station that has recorded the most precipitation is that of Xàbia Montgó/Toscamar with 55 mm of accumulated rain in these last 24 hours, but if we base ourselves on the entire month of March, this season accumulates just over 300 litres.

On the other hand, despite the widespread rainfall in the region, it seems that the second half of Thursday morning the water could give a respite with a low probability of more or less stable rain throughout the day.

Interior of the Marina Alta

Of course, on the coast, since in the interior municipalities the probabilities will continue to be quite high. As in Castell de Castells, whose forecasts are visibly worse than on the Marina Alta coast with a rain forecast of almost 100% until next Sunday.

These days there have been numerous images of the storm. The interior of the region has been the most affected with accumulated precipitation of more than 150 mm in Benigembla or 148 mm in Parcent in just 24 hours.
