Goodbye to the black spot of the Hostal Sant Jaume de Pego: 8,2 million allocated for the works of the overpass of the N-332

17 October 2022 - 13: 54

The black point of Hostal Sant Jaume, on the N-332, has its days numbered. This has been assured by Javier Herrero Linazo, general director of Roads to a delegation from the municipalities of Pego and Oliva, led by the mayor of Pego, Enrique Moll, and the deputy mayor of Olive, Ana Morell, who visited the Ministry of Transport today, Mobility and Urban Agenda to pressure and try to speed up the process of this important intervention for the pegolinos and pegolinas.

Herrero has confirmed that the Ministry will approve said project, that of the construction of the link (overpass) between the N-332 and CV-678 roads, at the end of 2022. He has guaranteed, in turn, that it will be at the beginning of the next 2023 when the work is put out to tender; and if the whole process continues correctly, it is expected that work will begin shortly before summer. A work whose budget amounts to 8,2 million and that from the direction of Highways point out said amount is already reserved within the Conservation item, of the state budgets.

This long-awaited project will consist of removing the intersection between the N-332 and CV-678 roads, one of the black spots on the Community's roads; and the execution of a new link through an overpass. In addition, numerous existing direct accesses from the bordering properties to the highway will be eliminated, through the execution of lateral service roads.

"This is very good news for the interests of the pegolinos and pegolinas, since we have spent many years demanding that this black spot be eliminated, which has caused so many accidents and taken so many lives", stressed the mayor of Pego, Enrique Moll after the match. “It seems that we see the light, now we take the General Director of Highways at his word and we hope that the deadlines that have been discussed today can be met. For us, ending the black spot at Hostal Sant Jaume has always been a priority. In fact, we have held many meetings in which we have insisted on the need to carry out these necessary works. We hope that our insistence has served so that next summer pegolinos and pegolinas can go to the beach more safely”.

For her part, the mayor of Oliva, Ana Morell, has stressed that with this project “which will finally be executed in 2023, we solve one of the biggest problems of circulation, traffic and mobility of our connections with neighboring cities. In this case, we have worked side by side with the City Council of Pego and we have managed to get the Ministry to give us a resounding yes, to eliminate a black spot on the N-332 that has claimed so many lives. It is a great satisfaction to be able to say that the Ministry of Transport, with the Director General of Highways as interlocutor, has confirmed that this magnificent work valued at 8 million euros will take away”.
